Heating solution

Clean heat, ready for your pilot.

Our sand-based thermal heating solution has been developed and is ready for pilot deployment. Designed for sites across Mongolia, it stores energy from renewable electricity for off-grid heating, or integrates with night-time electricity to deliver heat when it is needed.

Renewable heat, available when needed

Solar and wind generation do not always coincide with heating demand. Our thermal battery turns available electricity into heat, stores it in insulated sand, and transfers that heat through a heat exchanger to a building’s hot-water heating system when required.

The goal is clean, reliable heating that reduces reliance on fuel combustion. Storage connects renewable generation with everyday heating and hot-water needs.

Heat-as-a-Service: a simpler path to clean heat

Our primary offer is Heat-as-a-Service. Sparse arranges financing, installation, monitoring, operation, and maintenance, while you pay for heat under an agreed heat-supply contract.

This model is designed to lower upfront costs compared with purchasing the battery and simplify the day-to-day responsibility of running a heating system. You focus on your building or business; we manage the thermal heating service. Pricing, service scope, and responsibilities are agreed for each project.

Prefer to own the battery?

We also offer a battery purchase model for customers who want to own their thermal storage equipment. A warranty and service/repair package can be arranged alongside the purchase, with coverage, duration, and support terms agreed in the proposal.

Off-grid heating

For camps, lodges, homes, and rural facilities, the solution can combine local solar or wind generation with thermal storage to provide heating beyond the electricity grid. A system designed around the site’s winter demand, renewable supply, and backup needs can support a transition to renewable heat and reduce dependence on fuel deliveries.

Night-time charging for connected sites

Grid-connected buildings can charge the thermal store with night-time electricity and use the stored heat throughout the day. This shifts charging away from daytime demand and can make use of off-peak tariffs where available.

Renewable electricity can supply the store directly or complement grid charging. The share of renewable heat depends on the electricity source; night-time charging alone does not make grid electricity renewable.

Ready for pilot deployment

Our thermal-storage solution builds on earlier sand-battery prototype development and testing in Mongolia. The technology is developed, and our focus is now on deploying pilots with building owners, heating operators, and local partners.

We plan each installation around building insulation, occupancy, hot-water use, winter heat demand, and the available electricity supply. Together, we define storage capacity, heating-system connections, operating responsibilities, and a measurement plan before installation.

A pilot establishes how the solution performs at your site and provides the basis for a wider installation.

Start with your heating needs

Tell us where your site is, how it is heated today, and whether you have grid access or local renewable generation. We will work with you to scope a pilot for cleaner, more flexible heat.
